At La Loma Junior High, learning goes beyond the textbook. Students are encouraged to think creatively, explore new interests, and take ownership of their future.
As the second feature in Modesto City Schools’ Where You Belong video series, this spotlight showcases La Loma’s innovative programs and student-first culture. From hands-on Career Technical Education (CTE) opportunities to a brand-new science lab, students are introduced early to real-world learning that prepares them for success in high school and beyond.
The school also offers a newly expanded band room, a wellness center focused on student well-being, and a supportive environment where every student can thrive.
“La Loma is a special place,” said Principal Shaun Hurtado. “We’ve built a culture here that gives students the space to grow, lead, and thrive.”
